Dr. Deborah Miller, PhD, HSPP
Owner, Lead Psychologist
Dr. Miller is the owner and lead psychologist for exams and nexus letters. She began this company after several years of providing C&P examinations and medical opinions on a contract basis for the VA, through companies like LHI and OptumServe. Her goal is to serve veterans through reasonably priced, high quality documents that will help them win their VA disability claims. While not every claim needs independent documentation, she has seen how much having independent exams and nexus letters can influence the outcomes of VA claims. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Indiana and also a tenured professor of psychology. She holds interjurisdictional licenses to practice telehealth through PSYPACT and in Florida.

Why choose Dr. Miller?

Dr. Miller's expertise comes from years of working directly as a VA C&P examiner - she developed her methods specifically to address deficiencies she saw when veterans submitted expensive independent exams and nexus letters from psychologists who had clearly never been trained by the VA. She dedicates her time and best effort to a thorough exam and a well-researched medical opinion that always exceed VA standards, and will typically be much higher quality than a C&P exam/nexus completed by the VA, so that the private evidence you submit can be argued as more persuasive than a negative VA opinion, which are typically provided by contract examiners who spend little time or effort on their opinions. She fully understands the VA's typical reasons for denying claims, and includes pre-emptive arguments against these reasons in her medical exams and opinions.

Dr. Miller is an independent psychologist - not part of a "DBQ mill" or other organization that churns out nexus letters with little personalization. Your documents will clearly reflect your personal experiences and will never rely on a generic template.
Dr. Miller also knows how difficult this process can be for veterans - it's tough to admit to struggles, and Dr. Miller consistently receives feedback from veterans that she is easy to talk to about difficult issues. Her favorite part of this work is interacting directly with veterans who have never or rarely talked with a mental health professional, and giving them a positive experience about something they'd rather avoid. Dr. Miller's exams are thorough and will guide you through each point of information the VA requires, so that you do not have to worry that you'll accidentally leave out something important.
Finally, Dr. Miller is committed to seeing your claim through - in the rare case where a claim is denied, Dr. Miller will continue to work with you at no extra cost to see if there are additional ways she can provide supporting documents for a Higher Level Review or Supplemental claim. You can see on her Reviews and Outcomes page that veterans consistently experience success with her, even if their claims are initially denied.
